Gas Tank Neck Grommet and the gas tank
Having the gas tank under the floor on your 53-55 F100 with the fuel fuel filler neck coming out the corner of the cab does make for a strange area to fill up a truck. Nevertheless, if you're not filling it in and putting a new gas tank in the bed of your 53-55 Ford F100, you're going to need that huge odd shaped rubber grommet. Making the rubber grommet look right in this odd shaped location is not easy. Take your time and the it will come out fine. Install the gas tank with the 1.8 inch diameter fuel filler neck connection hose already on - tighten that clamp well. Then, slide the gas tank neck grommet over the metal fuel filler neck, being careful to install it the correct way. Put another hose clamp over the neck and install it to the tank. Tighten up the clamp on your fuel filler neck. Then fit the fuel filler neck grommet to the cab. This rubber grommet is big and thick and is a little hard to conform to the cab.
